The Parent Teacher Association supports the teachers, students and school by raising funds, planning events, and coordinating family involvement. We work together to help our Forest View community thrive. To keep our community thriving, we need to continue to grow our membership and include new faces, ideas, and talent each year. PTA President’s Letter for Forest View Families
From PTA President, Liz Snyder:
Welcome to the 2019-20 school year and to another wonderful year as part of our Forest View community! I am your PTA president, Liz Snyder. I have a 5th and 2nd grader at the school. As a PTA we work hard to support our teachers, staff, students and families.
Did you know that you need to renew your PTA membership each year? Please join us in supporting Forest View and officially join the PTA by paying the annual PTA dues of $5. This raises money for state and national PTA work as well as for our school. You can do this at our table at Welcome Back Night or on our member hub site https://forestviewpta.memberhub.store/shopping/categories/2023 This site can also be used to purchase T-shirts and car magnets, as well as donate to the Unfundraiser.
The money that our PTA raises supports your classroom teachers, specials, our media center, cultural arts programming, outdoor learning/gardening, science program, and much more. We work closely with Forest View staff to support many of the events that build community and make Forest View unique. The PTAs main source of income is our annual “Unfundraiser” which kicks off in September. Instead of asking your family to sell or buy something, we ask you to contribute what you can, one time. Last year, thanks to many of you, we raised more than $20,000 in donations from the Forest View Community. In addition, we have a great lineup of ‘Spirit Nights’ planned at local restaurants where the PTA receives a portion of the proceeds. Information for all the ways you can help can earn funds is on this websites fundraising tab.
Volunteers are a vital part of the PTAs work. They enable the PTA to provide support and plan events. There are many opportunities to get involved at the school. We help coordinate volunteers for room parents, the Fall Festival, Landscaping Days, Multicultural Night and Science Share. Volunteers can also act as tour guides for prospective families, chaperone field trips, provide snacks and breakfasts to our teachers and staff throughout the year and more. We hope you can find a volunteer opportunity that interests you and works with your schedule.
Please check our PTA website (https://forestviewpta.net) regularly to learn how the PTA contributes to the Forest View community and don’t forget to sign up to receive the weekly PTA email by sending a message to ptaforestviewelementary[at]gmail.com This email provides information on upcoming events and ways to get to involved.
We also invite you to attend PTA/Steering Team meetings throughout the year to keep up with all that is happening at Forest View. It is a great time to hear from the principle and staff about things happening at the school. If you have any questions, please contact any of our PTA officers. We are excited you are part of the Forest View community and we look forward to all the great things this year will bring.
