About

The Parent Teacher Association supports the teachers, students and school by raising funds, planning events, and coordinating family involvement. We work together to help our Forest View community thrive. To keep our community thriving, we need to continue to grow our membership and include new faces, ideas, and talent each year. PTA President’s Letter for Forest View Families

From PTA President, Liz Snyder:

Welcome to the 2020-21 school year and to the Forest View community! I am your PTA president, Liz Snyder. I have a 3rd grader and a Forest View alum. This will be a year like no other, but as a PTA, we will strive to build community and support our school in any way we can. In a socially distanced world, PTAs are more important than ever in helping to connect parents, teachers, and administrators, as well as supporting critical school needs.

Did you know that you need to renew your PTA membership each year? Please help support Forest View and officially join the PTA by paying the annual PTA dues of $5. This raises money for state and national PTA work as well as for our school. Join at our member hub site: https://forestviewpta.memberhub.store/shopping/categories/2023. This site can also be used to purchase T-shirts and car magnets, as well as donate to the UnFundraiser.

The PTA’s main source of income is our annual “UnFundraiser,” which will kick off in September. Instead of asking your family to sell or buy something, we ask for a one-time contribution of any amount. We understand that this is a hard time for many families in our community, and while we don’t expect to raise the same amount as past years, we are hopeful that many will still be able to support our school.

The money that our PTA raises supports classroom teachers, specials, our media center, cultural arts programming, outdoor learning/gardening, the science program, and much more. As we are starting the year virtually, we will work to fulfill the unique needs of Forest View staff so they can best support your children. Please check our PTA website (https://forestviewpta.net) regularly to learn how the PTA contributes to the Forest View community.

There are other easy ways you can help the PTA earn money. You can sign up for retail rewards though Amazon and Harris Teeter, clip Box Tops, participate in the Terracycle program, and eat out (or this year, get take-out) at certain restaurants. More information is available on this website’s fundraising tab.

Volunteers are a vital part of the PTA’s work. They enable the PTA to provide support and plan events. There are many opportunities to get involved at the school. While volunteering may look different this year, we look forward to meeting and working with you. We will be looking for new ways to connect as a community even though we will be apart. I truly hope that at some point COVID-19 will be under control, and we can return to school to meet in person. At that point, the PTA will pivot to supporting the school’s re-opening needs. In addition, this year we are starting a Parents of African American Children (PAAC) group. Our PAAC will be a subcommittee of the PTA and aim to encourage and support the engagement of Black families as well as advocate for Black children. We are looking for parents to help us launch and shape our PAAC, please reach out if you are interested.

Sign up here to receive the weekly PTA email for information on upcoming events and ways to get to involved: https://tinyurl.com/y56ujkvm

We also invite you to attend PTA/Steering Team meetings throughout the year. It is a great time to hear from the principal and staff about things happening at the school. If you have any questions, please contact any of our PTA officers. We are excited you are part of the Forest View community.

Go Falcons!
