Great Disability & Inclusion Awareness Week

Posted by
Thank you to all the teachers, staff, parents and students who made the Third Annual Disability & Inclusion Awareness Week such a success. Books were read, discussions were had, videos were shown, posters were made and displayed, accessible parking spots were decorated, guest speakers were heard and differences were celebrated! Hopefully the week had your students asking questions or reporting what they learned. And hopefully the message was the world is a better place because we are all different!
A highlight of the week was coordinated by Ms. Graves and Ms. Sprague. For the past two weeks, all second graders read the book “Not So Different: What You Really Want to Ask About Having a Disability” by Shane Burcaw. Then on Friday, they all gathered in the media center for a Skype chat with Mr. Burcaw. It was full of humor and great questions about Mr. Burcaw’s life by the students. It was inspiring. See the photo gallery below for all the highlights.
