Have you seen the art radiating in Forest View outside the cafeteria on “A” hall and around our school? Students in grades 1-5 made individual tracings of their arms and filled each tracing with patterns to make them unique–just like each of our students. Art teacher Ms. Flowers explains that the radiating individual arms “show that the individual art of our students radiates throughout our school as well as our lives.” This installation is one of the ways Ms. Flowers is helping us celebrate National Arts in Education Week. When art is a part of every child’s education, we cultivate creativity, active imaginations, innovative thinking, communicating ideas and feelings in a variety of way (words, images, sounds), and collaboration.
Governor Pat McCrory recognized National Arts in Education Week with this proclamation.
