Forest View Iron Chefs

Posted by

Forest View is cooking!  As part of Forest View’s push towards mind and body health for our students, all second grade classes are learning to cook. Each month, Becca Wright, a registered dietician, has been visiting second-grade classes to share healthy tips as well as hands-on cooking classes.  One week it was green smoothies (a favorite, with spinach!); another week it was creamy broccoli soup.  For the soup lesson, Ms. Wright discussed the importance of calcium in building strong bones, and brought in several induction burners so each child got a chance to add, stir, and cook her or his own batch.  Other grade levels also get a chance to cook–kindergarten and first-grade students made kale pesto!
